Outdoor Party Preparations Made Easy
Everyone loves an outdoor party. When the weather is warm, it does not matter if you have a huge backyard or a small patio, everyone wants to get outside and enjoy socializing in comfort. If you are going to be doing any outdoor entertaining, there are a few things to think about.
Lighting: Lighting is a hugely important and often overlooked aspect of decorating a great space, indoors or out. If you get the lighting right, it can create instant ambiance and put your guests at ease. Often times you can pick up great lanterns, candles and torches on sale at the end of summer for great prices, too. Think of creative ways to bring light into your space and create a fun, relaxing atmosphere.
Seating: Having comfortable chairs and seating to offer your guests at a party is an important part of entertaining. Look for affordable outdoor furniture on sale at large retailers or at garage sales if you are on a budget. Another option is to bring out indoor pieces if your space has some covered areas. Play with the placement of the furniture to create a nice flow. Think outside the box: bring out couches or a futon for the day and your guests will be thrilled at having such inviting and comfortable places to sit and talk to one another.
Decor: While Mother Nature has already supplied a lot of “natural” decor for your party area, you can pull it all together by adding a few fun pieces to the mix to create the perfect, out-of-doors affair. Hang decorative items on such tall structures as patio covers and trees if your outdoor space contains them. Pennant flags, paper lanterns and the hanging lights we have already mentioned are excellent items to use. Do not overdo it, however, and create a crowded look to your space; you will achieve a minimalist yet dramatic mood by hanging just a few, decorative items.
Tents and Umbrellas: You can transform your space by setting up a large tent or umbrellas. Your guests will not only appreciate the unique space you have created, they will also thank you for the added shade and protection from inclement weather these items provide. Large patio umbrellas to shelter tables, the food area, or sitting areas will also work if your space is not big enough to hold a tent. Whether rented or purchased, these items can still protect your guests from the hot sun and stormy weather.
